Fruit Fireworks Birthday Cake
A great treat for anyone who wants to enjoy their celebration in a healthy way! You can also use this on Memorial Day or 4th of July! Would go great at a BBQ. Feel free to create any design you like. This is your time to be creative... there are no rules!
Ingredients
- 1 watermelon
- 1 cantaloupe
- 1 can Pineapple rings
- 1/2 pound green grapes
- 1/2 pound red grapes
- 2 kiwi
- 4-5 large strawberries
- skewers and toothpicks
- star cookie cutter (or any shape you like)
Preparation
Cut the top and bottom ends of the watermelon off. Carefully insert the knife into the watermelon and carve out the red area leaving only the rind behind. When finished, you should have a ring of rind.
Cut the cantaloupe into slices and start cutting out your stars (or any shape). Wash grapes and begin sticking them on to the skewers. You can have one skewer covered in green grapes, another in red, you can alternate or do whatever you like. Cut up your kiwis and strawberries.
Once all the pieces are made, start assembling the cake. Put the watermelon on a large plate. Surround it with grapes, kiwis, and strawberries. Stick a toothpick on the side of the watermelon and top it with a grape. Then, hang a pineapple ring around it. Do that all around the cake. On the top of the cake, arrange your skewers. Top them off with a cantaloupe star. Take more stars and place them around the cake. If they won't stick to the watermelon on their own, use a toothpick to secure it.
Presentation
Your cake will be the talk of the party. You can serve it with a cake from the bakery or on its own. Great for 4th of July as well!
